The Film 'Together' Is Now Streaming, and It Might Make or Break Your Romantic Bond.

We present a test for those in enduring partnerships who enjoy the horror genre: Settle in with your partner and stream Together. The 2025 indie hit has now made its streaming debut via Hulu. On the surface, it might appear like conventional biological terror, but inside Together exists a profound meditation about how we choose to love one another.

A Debut Feature Delving into The Nuances of Love

Together marks the introductory feature for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It stars the real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple named Tim and Millie, an unmarried couple that have stayed together for ten years. United in marriage in real life in 2017, the two stars contribute a particular energy to their portrayals, expertly portraying both the joys and frustrations of a enduring union.

The plot starts when Tim and Millie transition from the urban environment to the country for Millie’s job. A familiar story element, sure, but that’s primarily where the tropes end. Together transforms into as much a deep dive into the psyche of the partnership as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

An Otherworldly Trigger

While walking near their new home, a violent storm occurs, and the protagonists tumble into an hole in the earth. After being trapped overnight there and finally finding a way out, a mysterious influence takes hold of the duo. This force compels a paranormal intimacy between them that goes exceeding typical partnership.

The complete narrative is a gradually intensifying of scares, blending elements of hallucinatory nightmares, unsettling (but never too gross) biological grotesqueries, and surprisingly comedic exchanges (sometimes in the middle of something horrific). The director weaves these elements together neatly and wraps them up in a consistently growing sense of impending doom.

Layered Performances

A great deal of Together is exclusively the two lead actors, and they skillfully illustrate manifold depths to the partnership at the film's core. Millie’s confidence and emotional bond is waning due to a lack of intimacy. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his hesitance to focus on anything other than his failing musical ambitions inexorably rises.

Conversely, Tim experiences isolation and isolated by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve left the city and removed from his social circle. He is terrified of the idea of utterly sacrificing his sense of self in Millie. This fear is amplified by the reality he does not operate a vehicle and relies on Millie for transportation.

The film's most intelligent aspect in this movie refrains from painting either of his characters the obvious villain.

Both characters grapple with the type of challenges that come with most partnerships over a long period. At their core, they continue to care for each other. They still laugh together, offer support, and share intimately at times. But below this facade, there’s an inescapable feeling of questioning about their bond.

Symbolism and Metaphor

While the otherworldly presence in Together act as a metaphor for these concerns of codependency and totally devoting oneself to a partner, the allegory does not come across as overly obvious or self-important. Instead, these more disturbing, unsettling scenes offer a perfect parallel to the relationship narrative. Both the frights and the fights work together in harmony.

A Controversial Conclusion

Together’s conclusion, which won’t be spoiled here, has created disagreement on the story's concluding statement about unhealthy partnerships. Accounts suggest that those not in relationships have understood the narrative as a compelling reason for staying single. Meanwhile, some couples who were in conflict found that the film actually helped them make up.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own interpretation could act as a telling indicator of how you perceive partnership. Will the ending sow a sense of discomfort and fear, or a positive outlook on love? Will you recognize your own traits in Tim or Millie and feel frustration, or simply glance toward your significant other and say, “I’d do that for you”?

Whatever the case may be, Together is an test you can embark on today.

Together is available to watch on the streaming service Hulu now.
